Delegates requiring a letter of invitation for gaining permission or support to attend, or for a South African visa application, or for any other reason, should contact the Conference Program Director, Nick Crofts, on nick.crofts@unimelb.edu.au or the Conference Secretariat on aleph@up.ac.za

International Delegates – Visas

International delegates may require a visa to enter South Africa. Please visit https://www.vfsglobal.com/dha/southafrica/

The visa application process may take up to several months – so please apply early!

Once your registration is paid, you will receive an electronic confirmation of your registration. We will confirm receipt of payment but this does not constitute an invitation for visa application purposes.

Visa Requirements by Country for Africa

Angola: ordinary passports visa exempt for 90 days p.a., visits not to exceed 30 days
Benin: requires a visa prior to travel
Botswana: visa exempt for visits of 90 days
Burkina Faso: requires a visa prior to travel
Burundi: requires a visa prior to travel
Cameroon: requires a visa prior to travel
Cote d’Ivoire: requires a visa prior to travel
Eswatini: visa exempt for visits of 30 days
Ethiopia: requires a visa prior to travel
Ghana: ordinary passport holders visa exempt 90 days per annum
Kenya: ordinary passport holders visa exempt 90 days per annum
Lesotho: visa exempt for visits of 30 days
Liberia: requires a visa prior to travel
Madagascar: ordinary passport holders visa exempt 90 days per annum
Malawi: visa exempt for visits of 30 days
Mozambique: visa exempt for visits of 30 days
Namibia: ordinary passport holders visa exempt 90 days per annum
Nigeria: requires a visa prior to travel
Rwanda: requires a visa prior to travel
Senegal: requires a visa prior to travel
Sierra Leone: ordinary passport holders require a visa prior to travel
Somalia: requires a visa prior to travel
Tanzania: visa exempt for 90 days
The Gambia: requires a visa prior to travel
Togo: requires a visa prior to travel
Uganda: requires a visa prior to travel
Zimbabwe: visa exempt for 90 days
Zambia: visa exempt 90 days per annum
